Member Copy of  MEMBERSHIP RULES AND REGULATIONS

YOU MUST ON ALL VISITS WEAR A MEMBERSHIP SHIRT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE

TIME TO CHANGE INTO ONE; DO NOT PLAN ON MAKING THE VISIT.

Minimum membership requirements: 1 visit of your choice per month, along with
participation in fund-raisers, meetings, PR functions, etc. as able.

Pets must be certified by Paws For Friendship, Inc. before visiting.

Pets must have completed all required vaccinations and veterinary exams. An updated
checklist signed by the veterinarian must be turned in each year of membership. IF we do
not have a current Health Checklist on your Pet, you will not be able to visit.

Pets must be on leads and controlled at all times, unless doing demonstrations or tricks.

No pet that has not been spayed or neutered may visit while “in season”.

Pets MUST be well-socialized with other animals and people. IF your pet has not
completed formal obedience training, we must have a disposition statement, signed by the
pet’s veterinarian. This IS necessary before you can begin visits.

If for ANY reason your pet should attack or bite another pet or person, your pet is
automatically removed from this pet therapy program. NO EXCEPTIONS!

One pet per person is allowed on a visit. Please do not bring an extra pet unless there is
someone designated to be responsible for it.

Each facility will have rules and guidelines that will be strictly enforced. If you are
unsure of any rule or situation, please consult the site leader or an employee of the site.

Please do not allow your pet to jump onto anyone’s bed, unless first invited to do so by
the resident/patient. We must always consider the comfort and condition of the person we
are visiting. Some facilities may require a protective sheet or blanket on the bed before a
pet can get on it, so check first.

Any pet or it handler may be asked to leave a facility by the site leader or facility
coordinator if any aggressive behavior is shown.

The handler is responsible for making sure the pet has relieved itself prior to the visit.
Please be sure to use the area designated by the facility for this purpose (check with site
leader or coordinator). You MUST clean up after your pet!

Pets and owners MUST be clean and neat for visits! Please use common sense regarding
personal and pet hygiene. You are required to wear one of the MEMBERSHIP SHIRTS
that you were given upon signing up. Wear clean, comfortable clothing. There is no
requirement for pet’s collars, leash, etc. Seasonal “attire” on the pets is encouraged–
everyone loves this! Use your imagination for your pet’s “wardrobe”

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU ARE ILL OR NOT FEELING WELL

DO NOT ATTEND A VISIT UNLESS YOU ARE IN A MEMBERSHIP SHIRT.

Please remember the health and well-being of the people we are going to visit! DO NOT

go on the visit if you or your pet is ill, or if you are having a bad day or personal

problems. We all want the visits to be a fun, pleasurable experience for everyone

involved. Sometimes life happens and either we or our pet need a day off.

There is no age limit placed on your pet for therapy visits. Once your pet has passed the
testing, age does not matter. This also applies to newborn pets AFTER they have received
their required vaccinations.  Please be aware, however, of changes in your pet as they
age. You are the best judge of your animal, and whether or not they are still able to enjoy
            and comfortably complete the visits.

Because we do visit children and the elderly, the dispositions of both the pet and the owner
are of the UTMOST importance! You are in the public eye and must serve as an
ambassador for the group. Our actions speak louder than words!

At NO time will any abuse be shown to an animal or disrespect shown to a member on a
visit. Please notify the site leader or facility coordinator at once if anything of this nature
            happens.

These guidelines are designed to ensure a quality, pleasurable pet therapy experience.
Please use common sense, and if you have any questions or concerns, contact the site
leader, facility coordinator, or International Headquarters in Tampa, Florida..

Upon termination of membership, ALL membership items received, including
everything you received for your Pet to use must be returned to the organization.

Flexi Leads are NOT allowed on visits. You must use a regular lead and keep your Pet
            close to you.

ONLY Dogs are permitted in Hospitals

                                                Membership fee is non-refundable
